I really like the boldness of your brush strokes, in this piece and in your previous ones! There's a very cool energy to it that I'm looking forward to seeing more of.

picturadio responds:

Thank you, I really appreciate hearing your thoughts! I did these a few months ago, so I still have a backlog of random other work to post - but I'll definitely get back to this style soon!

I really love the way you draw attention to the robot's head. I know you've been working with zbrush lately, and I initially thought it was a 3d rendered image. The way you focus in on it while leaving the surrounding areas blurred really gives the image a sense of depth. Excellent work.

My only crit I suppose would be to tighten up some of the edges just a little bit, for instance, the band that goes around its waist. The width of the band is inconsistent--making that symmetrical is just an example of a tiny little touch up that I think would go a long way.

Flowers10 responds:

Thanks for your kind works! I've actually just began working on hard and soft edges, I have always been oblivious to them. Hard to make a balance:P

I think the from hips up it looks pretty good. Her face especially is very nice.
The hands could use some work though and her chest looks a little high up to me.
The legs are the biggest issue. As of now, her knees are larger than her thighs, and it looks unnatural. Her ankles are also a little wide.
Good start though. You have a lot of potential.

Spedmallet responds:

Thanks for the critique; my scribble is complete horseshit compared to your work.

Completely agree about the chest; the stomach is way off.

Overall I need to push myself with hands/limbs; every time I sit down and draw a character I draw the head and body and forget about the rest for a few days before I begrudgingly and reluctantly force myself to finish.

But yeah, thanks for taking the time to review

Awesome.

This turned out really really good!
There are only two things I could see that would make it better, and that's stronger lighting (more shadows and it would be really nice if the colors of the sun were reflected off the dragons) and a little aerial perspective to give the sky and the dragons further in the background a little more depth. Aside from that, your lines are amazing! It's a really great use of perspective. Overall a really solid, pretty successful piece of work, and with a little more practice this would be UNREAL. :D

Ramatsu responds:

yeah I was going to do that to be honest. I did put some lighting of the sun on the dragons but my lame pc started lagging and I wanted to save it before I lost a bunch of hours of work put into this. Luckily after I saved it the program crashed on me lol. Thanx a bunch I got a lot of practice to do Now since I got my tablet it's overwhelming! So many tools I don't know where to start I see what people meant when it takes some getting used to it's not about drawing on it, it about the selection they give you makes it so hard to deal with.

LOVE

Totally agree. I've always loved Rayman as a kid, and even now Rayman 3d is the first game I bought for my 3ds. So I'm already biased.

Aside from that though, this image is really great. Lines are clean, colors are vibrant, everyone is mucho intense. You gave the picture this "action-packed" feeling without anybody even moving, and that's nice. Just out of curiousity, what did you use to color? It looks like colored pencil and something else, but I could be totally wrong.

Anyway, great job. I love it. :]

is really good when people admire our designs with love!
Look, it's just color pencils, pen and ink

and a little digital brightness
